Belper Arts Trail – 2024
Nicki Dennett, an acclaimed Derbyshire contemporary artist, returns to grace the Belper Arts Trail with her captivating creations. You will find her exhibiting at the Studio on Sunday 5th and Bank Holiday Monday 6th May 2024.
Drawing from a recent Mark-making residency at Artcore in Derby and a joint exhibition ‘Untitled’ at the city centre gallery, Nicki Dennett brings a fresh perspective to this year’s Arts Trail.
Renowned for her vibrant and dynamic original prints, Nicki’s artistic journey began with a degree in Illustration from the University of Derby, exploring the intricacies of printmaking. Building on this foundation, she pursued a Master’s degree in textiles, further refining her craft.
Her art is an ode to nature, reflecting the ebb and flow of the seasons and the interplay of light and shadow across landscapes. Each piece is imbued with bold colours and expressive mark-making, echoing the energy of the natural world.
Nicki’s portfolio boasts exhibitions in prestigious UK galleries such as The Harley Gallery in Nottinghamshire and the Cupola Gallery in Sheffield. Solo shows at Nottingham Castle and Deda in Derby have further solidified her reputation as a visionary artist.
From her latest endeavour of crafting jewellery inspired by her original prints to conducting workshops at Artcore, The National Justice Museum, and the Debbie Bryan Gallery, Nicki Dennett continues to push the boundaries of her creativity.
This years’ Belper Arts trail brings together over 170 artists and makers across various venues throughout the town. Supported by a full programme of live music, performances and food stalls.
