YUK FUN – Design and Illustration

YUK FUN is an incredibly talented duo of designers and illustrators who design and create unique illustrated apparel from Portslade-by-Sea, UK. This vibrant independent label makes pieces for lovers of animals, vibrant colours, and above all, fun. 

Almost a Decade of Fun and Colourful Design 

Lucy Cheung and Patrick Gildersleeves met while studying art and design at Leeds Metropolitan University. They founded YUK FEN in 2014 and are passionate about designing awesome stuff for awesome people. Their work includes stickers, prints, pins, clothing and art, and all items are made in small batches. They proudly use and wear their products and simply enjoy the process of designing and making things. 

YUK FUN creates wearable pieces of art out of illustrations by using imaginative screen printing. A creative design team consisting of Lucy Cheung and Patrick Gildersleeves specialises in their distinctively vibrant and cartoonish aesthetic printing t-shirts, tote bags, and other items. They have worked with companies like Linktree and the V&A Museum and celebrated 2023 being the year of the rabbit with specially designed lunar new year risograph postcards.

Unisex Clothing

The demand for unisex clothing is on the rise, and stylish yet versatile pieces are key. This is due to changing perspectives on gender, gender fluidity, and the notion that clothing does not necessarily need to be categorised into ‘men’s or women’s are concepts that people are beginning to accept more readily.

Celebrities such as Harry Styles, Kid Cudi, and Lil Nas X wear gender-neutral attire, leading to pop culture moving the times forward in the world of unisex clothing. Unisex clothing is also frequently regarded as more comfortable than conventional gender-specific apparel due to the clothing generally having a looser fit and fewer constricting elements. Another important note is that clothing that both genders and body shapes can wear is more inclusive.
