David Shrigley
Heavily influenced by the Dada movement which focuses on art and anti art, Turner Prize nominated David Shrigley or D. Shrig combines simplistic art with words, often with a deadpan undertone that you aren’t quite expecting, satirizing average human interactions using his signature child-like style.
If you haven’t heard of him before you have probably seen his work, he created the Thumb’s Up sculpture that sat on the 4th Plinth in Trafalgar Square from 2016 – 2018, the thumb was completely out of proportion to the hand which of course caused a stir, just what David wanted to achieve.
David Shrigley also has a shop in Copenhagen with gallerist Nicolai Wallner called the Shrig Shop, where limited edition prints and other merchandise packaged in the Shrigley-style are available, including wine and chocolate. We have handpicked three notebooks and two sketchbooks for the Stylistic Shop which we think showcase the Shrigley style perfectly.
Notebooks
The A5 and A6 notebooks are the perfect size for people on the move. The A5 design urges you in bright bold text to ‘switch off your brain’, whilst the A6 notebook book features a silhouette of head and advises you to ‘stop thinking’. A second A6 design features ‘I wish I had taken notes’ a thought which is unlikely to come into the mind of the owner of this notebook. Each design is perfect bound with a matt laminated cover with 96 feint lined pages (48 sheets) and has been printed in the UK on high quality paper.
Sketchbooks
For sketchbooks with a difference, choose from delightfully different cover statements of ‘art will save the world’ or ‘my artwork is terrible and I am a very bad person’. Sketch and scribble your ideas and plans on one of 144 pages of luxurious heavyweight 135gsm paper.
Shop our full range of stationary which includes stylish notebooks, planners, sketchbooks, pens and pencils.
